Fall brings a busy stretch of community events across Southeast Michigan. This week's highlights include a downtown art fair, a history-filled evening in Northville, and a Halloween paddle on the Huron River. Here are a few ideas for October 6–11.

Saturday & Sunday: A2 Artoberfest in Downtown Ann Arbor

A2 Artoberfest returns October 10–11 with juried artists, live entertainment, hands-on art activities and nearby restaurants. The 2026 fair is on Main Street between Washington and William, a change from its usual location. Hours are Saturday 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; admission is free.

Friday: Northville's If Stones Could Talk Tours

Northville's Oakwood Cemetery becomes a setting for local history on Friday, October 9, from 5–8 p.m. Costumed storytellers share the lives of early residents during guided tours presented by the Northville Art House and Northville Historical Society. Tickets are limited; the organizer lists admission at $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Saturday: Ann Arbor Farmers Market

The Ann Arbor Farmers Market is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. It's an easy way to spend a fall morning browsing seasonal produce and supporting area growers and makers in Kerrytown.

Sunday: Trick or Treat on the River at Gallup Park

On Sunday, October 11, Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation hosts Trick or Treat on the River at Gallup Park from noon–4 p.m. Families can paddle Gallup Pond and collect treats from costumed characters along the route. No preregistration is required. Boat rental prices vary from $15 to $25, depending on the craft. Children must be at least one year old. The city advises checking its event page at 9 a.m. for weather-related updates.

Whether you're spending the weekend downtown, exploring local history or getting outside, these events offer a glimpse of the communities and traditions that make the Ann Arbor area feel like home. Check the organizers' pages before heading out for any last-minute changes.
